Papergirl Manchester

I realised I have not blogged about Papergirl Manchester! Oh my, where’s my head!

Perhaps some of you fellow Mancunians know of this fantastic art project that started in Berlin and its grassroot initiative is catching on across the globe!

Papergirl Manchester is… well… Papergirl… in Manchester [ain’t I good at stating the obvious sometimes?!!]…

And they have a great blog where you can keep up with all the artsy, papery goodness : ) where you can also find a much more apt description of what it’s all about, than mine (!)

Papergirl is an art project from Berlin, having made its UK début in Manchester last summer, in 2011 Papergirl will take place in Manchester, Glasgow and Bristol. In the style of American paper-boys, rolled art pieces will be distributed by bicycle in the streets of Manchester to random passers-by.

For Papergirl Manchester 2011 we need a collective to organise, promote, ride and deliver. If you can help gain submissions, talk to the media, organise people, coordinate an exhibition or help with the ride get in touch.

They handed out artwork to passers by during the October (2010) Critical Mass ride, and from that I would like to share with you, especially, a delightful video, beautifully done by virtualnotebook.

I watched it when I was working late (plus browsing the internet, as you do!) so I had to keep it on mute first, but I highly recommend you do too. The images themselves are really powerful and rather poetic…

Keep an eye out for more great initiatives by Papergirl Manchester, and get involved if you can! I plan to!
